Chemical Warfare

2012-06-09 09.44.33One of the drivers for establishing and growing oats was to control the onion weed which is rampant across the property. The herbicide recommended is CHLORSULFURON.  We got a neighbours PTO sprayer working and I went into action, covered head to toe in a jumpsuit, respirator, gloves and snorkel mask.  The onion weed has almost disappeared from the  paddock and next year we will plant a different type of oats (not swan) then plant some pasture grasses the year after and move the oats to a new paddock.
