Flowering Marri

13_01_27 096The Marri seem to be flowering a bit later this year. Someone once told me that if they flower early, it will be a dry winter, so I am predicting a wetter than average winter.  The Flowers all appear at the end of the branches and it looks like the tree has been frosted in icing.  The tree is actually named after this trait.

Corymbia……from Latin, corymbium, a “corymb” referring to floral clusters where all flowers branch from the stem at different levels but ultimately terminate at about the same level.”

Someone also likened the appearance to a cauliflower, but I prefer the frosted analogy.
