Flare Up

2013-02-13 13.16.46We were at Brad’s cousin in Donnybrook and Brad noticed the column of smoke rising over the bush just after 1pm. The fire was 30km south but the smoke cloud was massive. The FESA Alert Report still listed an update from 11am which said there were seven fire fronts with alert level of advice.  Within an hour it was redefined as an emergency as properties were under threat.  Driving back from Donnybrook the smoke was a looming and ominous presence.  It was clearly visible even when we got home and were 70km west of the fire.
