Mowing the Meadow

20130217 001aI mowed the summer paddock/arena in preparation for fertilising tomorrow. I concentrated on the longer grass on the east side of the paddock where we brought in a lot of clean sand from the old creek bed and where the horses like to pee. The grass is much thicker here and without mowing grows too long and rank for the horses to eat. The coverage has improved in the rest of the area over the last couple of months, so I decided to leave most of the grass with some good length to see if it takes advantage of the fertiliser better.
