Preparing for Winter

20130318 006We moved the hay from the open bay into the feed shed to protect them from the main autumn rains.   I had covered the hay in preparation for the 20mm forecast, but we only had 8.2mm on the 14th. We stacked 12 bales on a pallet and drove them in with the forks on the tractor, we managed to fit 5 pallets in. These 60 bales will last for the next 6 months, until our next harvest in October.  We only saw a couple of mice and thankfully no snakes. The big black spiders and redbacks were enough for me.
