Preparing for Winter Pt II

20130318 002It seems strange to be thinking of winter on a 31 degree day, but a couple of cool nights and one wet day stirred me into action to prepare the horses’ rugs. Every year, I tell myself that I will wash and store the rugs at the end of winter.  Every year, I leave them on the stable rails until they are full of spiders and insects.  Brad stepped up to help me open them out and to kill the bugs before hosing them down.  It is much better with two people as you can both hold the rug at arms length while whacking the redbacks.  I will buy 3 boxes to store them in this week, as the long range forecast suggests I won’t need them until late April.
