Antlered Jelly Fungus

jelly fungusThis small jelly fungus is a Calocera or Antlered Jelly Fungus.  They only grow to about 8mm tall and mainly appear on rotting logs, though can appear on the ground too.   They are sometimes confused with coral and club fungi, but the jelly fungus differ in structure and have a smooth surface. They usually appear after heavy rain and have a high water content, they can also be rehydrated after drying out.  According to this website, they are also called Scotsman’s Beard.
