Tickling the Paddock

landscape rakeTo prepare the paddock for sowing, I used the landscape rake to de-thatch the dead weeds, scarify the surface and loosen some stones.  Our version of no-till farming.  Although it is a 6ft landscape rake, you have to use it on an angle so you can windrow any debris and not drag all the soil with you, so you basically have a working width of about 1.5m.  The paddock is 100m wide and 170m long so it took over 6 hours to finish.  We bought the rake last year to use on the oat paddock, and I did the fire-breaks with it in December, it was a great buy from Sandro Agrizzi in Bunbury.
