Box-walking Bowie

20130703 034Every now and then, Bowie gets himself worked up overnight, doesn’t eat his feed and walks round and round his  box.  The last time was when the goats freaked him out (or he got zapped by their electric fence).  When I let him out of his box in the morning after his over-wrought nights he bolts out as if the hounds of hell are chasing him.   This morning he could hardly get up from his morning roll as he had obviously exhausted himself overnight and his legs kept buckling under him as he tried to stand.   I came up with a theory that he gets upset when it is the dark moon and he can’t see properly.  He is the head of the herd and takes his responsibilities seriously.  I will have to check him next month.  He can drop 10kg in a couple of days with the constant movement and the lack of food, so I added some molasses to his feed to encourage him to eat.
