Blue Squill

20130816 013A number of our blue squill (Chamaescilla corymbosa) are unfurling their flowers now.  They are usually the first flowers to appear in spring. They are part of the Asparagaceae family like the lomandra and are  perennial herbs that have an edible tuber.  The flowers are mostly blue, but as can be seen from this photo can range between a deep blue through to white.
