Yin Yang Chaff Cutter

20131115 029This set of beautiful curved blades are on the fly wheel of a 1900’s Bentall and Co Chaff Cutter. Brad has been on the lookout for one after using our neighbour’s Australian made Malloch one a couple of times earlier this year.  He found this one a couple of hours inland near Pingelly, so I drove up to Pinjarra with the trailer, then swapped vehicles and Brad who was heading south after work.  He then drove out to Pingelly.  It took him about 4 hours to drive back home.   The cast iron frame is broken 3 places, but he has found a wonderful 86 year old boiler maker who will weld it back together for us.  I hope Brad can work out all the cogs when it comes time to put it back together again…It had a 2 phase electric motor, so we are deciding whether to put a normal single phase motor on or hooking it up to some pedal power.
