First Milk

20131126 001The kids will be 3 months this week, so can do without all the milk.  I am trying to reschedule the feeding routine so I can incorporate milking.  I had milked Midge before when she had injured her udder, but had never tried into a bucket.  The kids had had their morning feed so there wasn’t much left, but I got it in the bucket, through the filter and into a glass.  There was absolutely no goat taste to it at all.  I am so happy.  I specifically chose a Nubian Goat as their milk is supposed to be sweeter and richer compared to the Alpine breeds which can taste more goaty – so more favoured for cheese.
