Wasps Nesting
The wasps are very active at the moment as they feed and seal their larvae into individual chambers to pupate. There are a number of European Paper Wasp Nests all round the property, I spotted this one under a star picket cap on the bottom fence and found another under the lip of the horse trough. The former will stay, the latter will go, with the help of some mortein fly spray, first thing in the morning before they become active. There are no native paper wasps in the SouthWest of WA, the first European wasp was found in Fremantle in 1977, so they have been very effective colonisers. They eat caterpillars, so I should be happy to see them in the vege patch, but I am not as they still scare me.
