Pobblebonk
The frogs were loving the light rain this morning. Our dam is a soak and forms a natural amphithetre and they were singing their hearts out. The Western Banjo Frog or Pobblebonk (Limnodynastes dorsalis) is the loudest frog on our dam and they have just started calling. We can hear them 200m away at the house. They will continue calling and mating for the next 5 months. I found one of these near the next oat paddock – I recognised it from the bright red patches on its sides/groin – but of course I didn’t have my camera with me. The other frog in the audio is probably the Quacking frog (Crinia georgiana).
