At only 3 months old, the kids are looking more like small adults! Rose always stands right up beside Midge while feeding – I slip Crumpler some choice handfuls of feed in the corner so she can eat unharried by the others.
I thought it was important to keep a regular farm diary, but only got serious in 2013 and wrote a post (or three) every day. I had been inspired by "The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady" which my Godmother gave me when I was 12. I wanted to record a short, sharp statement each day, documenting the rainfall, the weather, and the wildlife. I wanted it to become a useful record, helping the farm get bigger and better each year. We are custodians of 84 acres in the SW of Western Australia, halfway between Busselton and Margaret River. Since December 2009 we have planted 10 acres of spotted gums, sown and harvested a 3 acre oat paddock (after picking up many rocks) and established paddocks for horses. We have horses, chickens, guinea fowl, goats, sheep and a dog.
