We are custodians of 84 acres in the SW of Western Australia, halfway between Busselton and Margaret River.<\/p>\n
Since December 2009 we have planted 10 acres of spotted gums, planted another 5,000 trees and shrubs in shelter belts, improved the soils, sown and harvested 9 acres of oaten hay in 3 paddocks (after picking up many rocks) and established paddocks for horses and rotational grazing for our sheep.<\/p>\n
We have horses, chickens, guinea fowl, goats, sheep and a dog.<\/p>\n
I kept meaning to start a farm diary, but could never get organised or find the time, but I finally got going in 2013.<\/p>\n
I had been inspired by “The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady” which my Godmother gave me when I was 12. I wanted to record a short, sharp statement each day, documenting the rainfall, the weather, and the wildlife. I wanted it to become a useful record, helping the farm get bigger and better each year.<\/p>\n
