{"id":2063,"date":"2013-05-01T18:29:30","date_gmt":"2013-05-01T10:29:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/?p=2063"},"modified":"2013-05-02T21:35:09","modified_gmt":"2013-05-02T13:35:09","slug":"rain-shadow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/01\/rain-shadow\/","title":{"rendered":"Rain Shadow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/20130502-012.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2080\" alt=\"20130502 012\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/20130502-012-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/20130502-012-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/20130502-012.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a> This morning, my neighbour contacted me about the rainfall to see how much we had had, saying it had been raining at his property all morning. \u00a0 We hadn&#8217;t even had enough to register on the rain gauge which records everything over 0.5mm! \u00a0 We were both surprised at the difference 4km makes. \u00a0 \u00a0 We are on the edge of a ridge on Whicher Range and west of the Naturaliste Ridge, so we do seem to suffer with some <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rain_shadow\" target=\"_blank\">rain shadow<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0Sometimes these are even visible on the rain radar, showing as a lighter patch halfway between Busselton and Margaret River. \u00a0 \u00a0So far today, Busselton has received 37mm and we got 24mm, so we both fell within the<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/01\/rain-radar\/\"> forecast range<\/a> of 20-40mm.
