\"trametes<\/a>This Bracket fungus<\/a> reminded me of a greenlip Abalone. \u00a0The\u00a0Trametes Versicolor<\/a>\u00a0is a polypore <\/a>mushroom found all over the world, trametes means skinny, and versicolor means multi-coloured. \u00a0The cap is leathery and usually ranges in colour from light to dark brown interspersed with black. \u00a0But like this one, it can have areas with algae growing on it making it look green. \u00a0Hairs on the surface give it a velvety look. \u00a0According to Wikipedia,\u00a0<\/a>Chinese and Japanese have used this mushroom for its medicinal properties for a long time. \u00a0<\/em>The fertile undersurface is white when fresh like this patch I found on another log.<\/p>\n

<\/em><\/strong>Medicinal Properties\"bracket<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Polysaccharide-K (Kresin, PSK, PSP) is a cancer drug derived from\u00a0Trametes Versicolor. Its benefits are invaluable. It is used with chemotherapy when treating cancer patients and reduces the negative impact of the drugs used in chemotherapy. \u00a0The Health and Welfare Ministry of Japan approved the drug in the 1980s. \u00a0The main cancers the drug has helped tackle are stomach cancer and colorectal cancer. \u00a0It has also dealt with non-small cell lung carcinoma and small cell carcinoma which affects lungs. \u00a0There are more medical links below.<\/p>\n
