{"id":3758,"date":"2013-07-20T19:41:35","date_gmt":"2013-07-20T11:41:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/?p=3758"},"modified":"2014-03-27T11:59:37","modified_gmt":"2014-03-27T03:59:37","slug":"thinking-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/20\/thinking-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"Thinking Ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/20130722_113513.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-3778 alignright\" alt=\"20130721_151509\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/20130722_113513.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Next year we are moving the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/category\/farm\/?s=oats\" target=\"_blank\">oats<\/a> down to the fertile valley floor on the northeast of the Property. \u00a0The new oat paddock is covered with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dpi.vic.gov.au\/agriculture\/dairy\/pastures-management\/ag1389-onion-grass-romulea-rosea\" target=\"_blank\">onion weed\/guildford grass<\/a> and we have been advised to plough it now to bring up the bulbs which will help us eradicate it over the next few years. \u00a0 We will probably have to spray too, either <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/05\/knockdown\/\" target=\"_blank\">before<\/a>\u00a0or <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2012\/06\/09\/chemical-warfare\/\" target=\"_blank\">after<\/a>\u00a0planting the oats. \u00a0Our neighbour is coming round with his heavy\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Disc_harrow\" target=\"_blank\">disc harrows<\/a>, so we slashed the area and picked up the big rocks to reduce the likelihood of any surprises hidden in the long grass.
