I have only found 2 or 3 of these plants in the forest.  They prefer damp soils, so ours is probably a bit too rocky for them.  They are part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Goodeniaceae\">Goodeniaciaea<\/a> family which also includes the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/18\/blue-leschenaultia\/\">Leschenaultia<\/a> and the Dampiera which we have a lot more of.  It reminds me of a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thunbergia_alata\" target=\"_blank\">black-eyed susan, and is sometimes promoted as a native bedding plant as an alternative to a petunia.<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although these are described as common, the Velleia trinervis are one of the least common on the property.
