It got to 34 deg c (93 F) in the afternoon, more than 12 degrees hotter than the average for this time of year and I hoped no neighbours had thought that today would be a good day to do a burn off. Any time I see or smell smoke, I check the Fire and Emergency Services website for any alerts<\/a> and the Department of Parks and Wildlife for any prescribed or controlled burns. If there is nothing listed, I keep my eye on the smoke and check back every 30 minutes unless the smoke dies down.
