round the property to check on our progress over the last 12 months. \u00a0We have seen a number of changes with the major ones being getting ready for our goats, hatching and learning about guinea fowl, preparing a new paddock for next year&#8217;s oats and bringing in a good hay crop. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">January<\/span><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0Goldie was <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/29\/goldie-killed-by-snake\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">killed by a snake<\/span><\/a>, we noticed that Guinea Fowl have <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/16\/baby-blue-eyes-under-siege\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">blue eyes<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/12\/lisa-lashes\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">long eyelashes<\/span><\/a>, I saw the<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/26\/jumping-joey\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> kangaroo Mum and Baby<\/span><\/a> for the first time and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/17\/dung-beetles-at-work\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Dung Beetles<\/span><\/a> got rid of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/01\/10\/the-flies-have-disappeared\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">flies<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">February<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, the young guineas had their <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/14\/lined-up-on-a-log\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">first taste of freedom<\/span><\/a>, a couple were <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/11\/fox-bites-leg-off-young-guinea\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">killed by foxes<\/span><\/a> and I <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/19\/intervention\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">helped two new guineas<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/category\/not-so-wildlife\/guinea-fowl\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/2013-02-23-15.16.25-245x180.jpg\" width=\"245\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a>Bill and Ben from their shells. \u00a0We <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/11\/harvest-2\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">harvested lots of food<\/span><\/a> from the garden and went to <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/22\/dairy-goats\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">choose our goats<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Much of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">March<\/span><\/a><\/strong> was spent <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/16\/finished-fence\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">putting up the fence<\/span><\/a> for the goat paddock, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/18\/reds-dead\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Red died<\/span><\/a>, Flash was <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/27\/flash-down-and-out\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">fit for work for about 2 weeks<\/span><\/a> between injuries and we had extremes of <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/04\/relief\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">hot <\/span><\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/26\/ridiculously-cold\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">cold <\/span><\/a>and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/26\/city-24-6-country-4-6\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">first autumn rains<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em; color: #000000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">April<\/span><\/a><\/strong> started with giving\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/01\/epipen\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Bowie a series of injections<\/span><\/a> to combat a severe allergic reaction to a sting. \u00a0An unseasonable <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/08\/endless-summer\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">heatwave dragged on<\/span><\/a> before we got our <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/12\/we-got-an-inch\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">first real rainfall<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0We built<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/15\/finishing-touches\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> luxury accommodation<\/span><\/a> for the goats &#8211; although they are a bit delayed as<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/category\/not-so-wildlife\/goats\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130823-021-245x180.jpg\" width=\"245\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/17\/disappointment\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Midge didn&#8217;t get pregnant<\/span><\/a> &#8211; \u00a0and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/30\/thirteen-nannies\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">little guineas<\/span><\/a> Bill and Ben <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/04\/25\/mum-and-dad\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">met the older birds<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/01\/lone-ranger\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Poor little Ben<\/span><\/a> got taken on the 1st of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">May<\/span><\/a><\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/12\/bye-bye-billie\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Billie only survived<\/span><\/a> another 10 days, even though the others took her in and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/01\/teaching-her-to-fly\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">showed her how to fly<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0The most exciting thing of course was <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/03\/weve-got-goats\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">bringing our 2 goats<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/17\/monkey-midge\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Midge<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/15\/snubian\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Smudge<\/span><\/a> to the property. \u00a0On the 8th we got the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/08\/highest-rainfall-in-wa\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">highest rainfall in the whole of WA<\/span><\/a> at 78mm, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/11\/tanks-full-already\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">tanks were full by the 11th May<\/span><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/05\/31\/shes-full\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">dam was overflowing<\/span><\/a> by the end of the month. \u00a0The wet weather brought out the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/category\/wildlife\/fungi\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">first fungi<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/category\/wildlife\/fungi\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/20130610-037-245x180.jpg\" width=\"245\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/\">June<\/a><\/strong> was all about identifying all the different fungi popping up in the forest, they came in a <a href=\"http:\/\/cathmiller.wordpress.com\/2013\/06\/17\/rainbow-of-fungi\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">whole rainbow of colours<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0 The main jobs were the first 8 stages of producing oaten hay &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/05\/knockdown\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">weedkiller<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/06\/tickling-the-paddock\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">raking<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/06\/rock-picking-2013\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">rock picking<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/07\/sowing-our-oats\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">sowing<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/07\/harrowing\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">harrowing<\/span><\/a>, rock picking, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/08\/finishing-the-oats\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">rolling and fertilizing.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 On the wildlife front, I learned more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/20\/haleotydeus-destructor\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">red-legged earth mite<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and a couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/06\/?s=kite\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">kites<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">July<\/span><\/a><\/strong> was awesome. \u00a0Looking back at the posts, there were great <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/?s=sunrise\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">sunrises<\/span><\/a>, our <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/07\/first-frost-in-four-years\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">first frost<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/10\/baby-goats\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">baby goats<\/span><\/a> and while our <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/09\/oats-loving-the-rain\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">oats sprouted<\/span><\/a> we started\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/20\/thinking-ahead\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">cultivating a new paddock <\/span><\/a>for growing them next year. \u00a0I got my first pictures of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/05\/endangered-baudins-cockatoos\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">baudin<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/26\/red-tailed-black-cockatoo\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">red-tailed<\/span><\/a>\u00a0black cockatoos and had fun with a rogues gallery of <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/07\/02\/rogues-gallery\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">chicken bottoms<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/04\/another-point-of-view\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/20130804-023-245x180.jpg\" width=\"245\" height=\"180\" \/><\/span><\/a><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">August<\/span><\/a><\/strong> was <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/07\/quicksand-and-poo-soup\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">wet<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0There were only 3 days when it didn&#8217;t rain and we got <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/31\/average-august-rains\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">50mm more than average<\/span><\/a> for the month. \u00a0I took my favourite sunrise photo of the year, learned about my <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/18\/halo-of-holy-light\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Holy Halo<\/span><\/a>, and captured a <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/25\/rain-heart\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">beautiful rain drop<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0August was focused on our future food security. \u00a0We put together our <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/02\/greenhouse\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">greenhouse<\/span><\/a>, got some <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/10\/preparing-for-milk\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">milking supplies<\/span><\/a>, weeded the<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/05\/food-zone\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> vege beds<\/span><\/a>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0with help from the chickens &#8211; and planted <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/11\/fodder-crops\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">tagasaste for the goats<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/13\/spring-springing\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">first flowers of spring <\/span><\/a>appeared and we found out we had <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/08\/19\/rabbits-in-the-rockpile\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">rabbits<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/06\/midge-is-kidding\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Midge<\/span><\/a> had her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/06\/twin-girls\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">twin girl kids<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">September<\/span><\/a>.<\/strong> \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/18\/curious-rose\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Curious Rose<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/19\/gorgeous-crumpler\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Gorgeous Crumpler<\/span><\/a> were even cuter than I had imagined. \u00a0 \u00a0Poor Midge<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/10\/injured-udder\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> injured her udder<\/span><\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/09\/pronking\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Twins-245x180.jpg\" width=\"245\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a> so I suddenly had to learn how to milk and the<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/15\/butchers-block-milking-stand\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> milking stand<\/span><\/a> got built sooner than anticipated. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/08\/mama-gone-broody\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mama Hen went broody<\/span><\/a> so we bought a couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/20\/mama-chicks\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">day old chicks<\/span><\/a>\u00a0for her to raise. \u00a0It was a <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/22\/wind-rain-forecast\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">wild weather month<\/span><\/a> with our <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/20\/first-hailstorm\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">first hailstorm<\/span><\/a> and storms that brought <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/23\/storm-casualty-2\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">trees down<\/span><\/a> and blew a panel out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/09\/30\/brad-finds-greenhouse-panel\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">greenhouse<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">October<\/span><\/a><\/strong> was all about the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/26\/stacked\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">hay<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0 Our kind neighbour lent us his <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/20\/went-mow-meadow\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">mower<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/22\/raking\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">rake<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/24\/baling-failed\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">baler<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and we got it in the shed after 6 days. \u00a0\u00a0 The <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/13\/goats-five-weeks\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">kids <\/span><\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/12\/chicks-ugly-stage\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">chicks <\/span><\/a>are growing quickly and the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/26\/let-us\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">horses were very happy<\/span><\/a> to be back in the oat paddock. \u00a0The <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/category\/wildlife\/flowers\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">wildflowers<\/span><\/a> were mostly <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/16\/pink-fairy\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">pink<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/29\/blue-grass-lily\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">blue<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0The dry days that let us harvest the hay also gave a couple of <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/13\/six-degrees\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">chilly mornings<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and a <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/19\/like-midwinter-day\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">record low maximum<\/span><\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/10\/21\/parallel-lines\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/20131021_154422-245x180.jpg\" width=\"245\" height=\"180\" \/><\/span><\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">During <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">November<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/03\/helpful-kids\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">kids<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/03\/free-range-chicks\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">chicks <\/span><\/a>\u00a0started showing their <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/24\/chicks-weaned\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">independence<\/span><\/a>. I <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/25\/first-milk\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">milked Midge<\/span><\/a> for the first time and garden produced <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/08\/first-potatoes\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">potatoes<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/10\/rosy-radishes\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">radishes<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/07\/broad-beans\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">beans<\/span><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/08\/chips-mushy-peas\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">peas<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and our first <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/04\/first-greenhouse-produce\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">tomatoes<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0We started <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/13\/rat-trap\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">trapping the rats<\/span><\/a> which have made themselves at home in the feed shed. \u00a0We had an unusually <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/10\/ducks-dragonflies\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">hot spell for the first couple of weeks<\/span><\/a>, but the <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/30\/900mm-rain\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">rains returned at the end of the month<\/span><\/a>. \u00a0 We spotted an interesting range of wildlife including metallic <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/17\/straw-necked-ibis\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">birds<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/17\/bronze-beetle\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">beetles<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/27\/pink-grey-galah\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">pink parrots<\/span><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/11\/12\/handsome-wedge-pea\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">peas<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">December<\/span><\/a><\/strong>, we started building the earth oven with our own <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/04\/resource-rich\/\">clay<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/04\/sand-form-oven\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">sand<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and put a <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/23\/reticulating-the-vege-beds\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">drip irrigation system<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in for the vege beds and fruit trees. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/category\/not-so-wildlife\/chickens\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/20131225-033-245x180.jpg\" width=\"245\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a>The <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/26\/tina-and-lola\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">chicks are almost fully grown<\/span><\/a> and we <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/12\/08\/weighing-kids-2\/\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">weighed the kids<\/span><\/a>\u00a0again at 3 months &#8211; \u00a0they were huge!
