sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>After losing a number of fully developed keets in the first year when they couldn&#8217;t get out of their shells, I always <a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2013\/02\/19\/intervention\/\">intervene<\/a> if a keet has not made much progress. \u00a0 My birthing kit includes 2 wet tea towels which I alternately heat in the microwave to give a warm moist environment to work in, tweezers to break off shell, a bowl with warm water and some cotton buds to ease the membrane away from the bird. \u00a0 \u00a0I only break shell away round the fat end and make sure I don&#8217;t pull the shell or membrane away at the other end where the keet is still attached. \u00a0<a
