{"id":6130,"date":"2014-06-04T21:26:58","date_gmt":"2014-06-04T13:26:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/?p=6130"},"modified":"2014-06-04T21:28:06","modified_gmt":"2014-06-04T13:28:06","slug":"king-kenny","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/2014\/06\/04\/king-kenny\/","title":{"rendered":"King Kenny"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140603-013.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-6281\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140603-013-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"20140603 013\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140603-013-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140603-013.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Food is a great way to build trust with animals and I am working on the new sheep. \u00a0On the first two days I put out\u00a0some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.milne.com.au\/easyone.html\" target=\"_blank\">EasyOne<\/a>\u00a0fully balanced\u00a0sheep pellets, but they didn&#8217;t touch them, so yesterday I tried putting out a little\u00a0chook wheat. \u00a0That worked and King Kenny the ram came over and ate it all. \u00a0 I found a bin of oats we didn&#8217;t plant last year and tried them\u00a0on him today and they seemed even more popular. \u00a0I put a couple of the special sheep pellets in with the oats, but he skillfully picked all the little grains out and left all the big pellets. \u00a0\u00a0He\u00a0is definitely being a bit of a lad, sauntering over on his own and eating all the grain, stamping his foot to challenge me a bit then going back to sniff the ewes bottoms\u00a0to see if\u00a0any would be receptive to his charms!<a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140603-010.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-6284\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140603-010-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"20140603 010\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140603-010-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140603-010.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0On Saturday I was impressed at how quickly he took charge of his new\u00a0flock, keeping an eye on me and herding the girls to the far side of the paddock. \u00a0I just hope he either brings the girls over soon or they take the initiative and follow him. \u00a0I suppose they have only been here 4 days so I can&#8217;t really expect them to be eating out of my hand just yet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140531-0021.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-6282 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140531-0021-300x215.jpg\" alt=\"20140531 002\" width=\"300\" height=\"215\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140531-0021-300x215.jpg 300w, https:\/\/cathmiller.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/20140531-0021.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Food is a great way to build trust with animals and I am working on the new sheep.
