\"20140507_182827\"<\/a>Just after feeding the horses I heard a commotion with the guinea fowl. \u00a0The birds were all pecking and picking on one bird. \u00a0It had crawled into a gap in a\u00a0pile of rocks trying to protect its head, but they were all pecking at its back. \u00a0It was making an awful wailing, moaning cry that I have never heard before. \u00a0 I picked him up and chased the other birds off, but he was too wild and broke free and ran off. \u00a0 The birds chased him again and the poor pecked and picked on Guinea Fowl got driven into a drum of oil. \u00a0Because his feathers were covered in oil,\u00a0he was hampered\u00a0and\u00a0I was able to catch and hold on to him. \u00a0I spent the next \u00a0couple of hours soaping, washing and rinsing his feathers. \u00a0I kept him\u00a0wrapped in a towel while I was working on him and he was surprisingly calm. \u00a0I put him in the brooder box and he went pretty quiet. \u00a0I hope he survives. \u00a0 He will probably be killed when I release him again, but at least he will be able to fly with his clean feathers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
