The Country Diary of a GenX Woman

Tina and Lola

20131225 033The 2 new chickens are very different in colour, so we can definitely tell them apart.  The paler one is bolder and when she comes out in the morning she fluffs out her cape/neck feathers to warn the older birds off and looks like a fierce golden eagle.  My friend Tina Larcombe’s grandfather discovered Australia’s largest gold nugget (1,200 0z/32kg) – the Golden Eagle – in 1931.  I asked her if I could call my new chicken Tina…. she said yes.   I was thinking about famous Redheads for the other chicken and remembered the lead actress Franka Potente in Run Lola Run so the 2 young chickens are now Tina and Lola.
