Fire Breaks

2012-12-09 10.08.55This is the 5th year we have been responsible for the firebreaks and the first time we have done them ourselves. They have to be cleared by 15th December each year – we bought the property on the 4th December 2008 and thought that the previous owner would have done them, but he didn;t so our first contact with the Shire was a fine for no fire breaks. A great contractor did them for us that year and the next 3 years, but with the new landscape rake we bought for doing the paddock and the weed sprayer, we can do them ourselves. The weeds were sprayed in October and I took a couple of days driving round with the rake. I had to go in both directions with the rake set at 45 degree angle. It came up well, but will offset the rake another 10inches to the side next time we do it.
