Perfect Sit, Stay

2013-01-22 10.20.40I asked Shorty to sit and stay while I was moving Mama Guinea Fowl off the nest and collecting the eggs. I didn’t want to frighten the birds any more than necessary even though Shorty is completely passive with all the domesticated (and most of the wild) birds on the property. She didn’t move a muscle and I was so proud as she was quite a distance from me. When we first found eggs in 2010, we just put them in the fridge and gave them to Shorty. She normally finds the eggs and will eat what she can till we catch up. I was surprised that neither she nor the fox had found this nest as they would have started laying eggs in at least a week ago as there are only 2 females.
