The Country Diary of a GenX Woman

Tolerating the Teenagers

2013-02-14 10.48.20Only one day after it was all out war between the young birds and the originals, they both came in for tea at the same time.   The 2 flocks were a bit separate as they approached, but merged as they came closer to the feeding zone, there was the odd fluff of feathers, but they all came in together. I stepped in to separate them so I could get the young birds in their cage and leave the originals eating in peace.  It all went to plan and I think they will be fully integrated within the week.  I could probably leave the young ones out now as at 14 weeks, they look fully grown, but it was only 10 days since at least two of them had toes bitten off and although they look to have adapted well, I would prefer them to have a bit more healing time.
