The Country Diary of a GenX Woman

Springing Back to Life

20130905 061I had no idea how flat I had become after a long cold and wet winter. We have had heavier than usual rain for the last 4 months and August only had 3 days without rain.  This was a record as normally there are about 2 dry weeks in August.  I realise now, how much I have been hibernating, staying indoors wrapped in layers and clutching a (w)heat pack, hot out of the microwave, to keep warm.  Today was warmer and the wind had dropped and I felt like I had been reborn.  I sorted out the greenhouse, weeded the garden and finished pulling out a patch of lupins in the paddock. I groomed all the horses and lunged young Flash. Throughout the day I was also checking on the goats every couple of hours to check on progress on Midge’s Pregnancy, no kids yet, but maybe tomorrow. The colourful flowers bursting out everywhere over the last few days have inspired me and I feel like I am raring to go.
