The Country Diary of a GenX Woman

Reprieve

20130915 079There was a lull in the storm and I made the most of the sunshine and weeded another vege bed – five down, one to go.  We have had high winds and rain all week and the same is forecast for next.   On the way back from feeding the guineas in the late afternoon, I caught the moon rising through the trees and it took me back to the joy I felt at the coming of spring only 10 days ago.  This now seems like a bad joke or a distant memory.  Busselton town 15 km northeast of us had 40mm of rain on Saturday combined with a record low maximum of 14.1 Deg C.   Here, the chill from the 80kmh southerly winds kept the apparent temperature in single digits for most of the day and we had over 20mm of rain.  The only upside of the dreadful weather was that 20130915 069Brad was busy in the shed and made the wonderful flip-flop hoof-stand and the butcher’s block milking stand.
