Grasshopper

20131115 002This grasshopper is avoiding the guinea fowl by climbing up our front door.  Actually, I can admire the colours and beauty in this insect as it is a different type to the wingless grasshopper (Phaulacridium vittatum) which does all the damage when it occurs in high numbers.  According to the Department of Agriculture and Food, the wingless grasshopper has infested 20,000 square kilometres of pasture in the south-west of Western Australia.
