New Oat Paddock Prepped
We borrowed a 4m length of railway track from our neighbour to flatten the new oat paddock before rolling it. We picked up all the rocks, afghan melons and deadly nightshade before dragging the rail. My delight at finding no rocks after our neighbour cultivated it last July, was a little premature. We ended up hand picking about 4 tonnes of rocks over a couple of days. It looks quite good, but will improve with raking, harrowing and rolling during the planting phase. We just need a bit of weed cover to hold the soil now until we sow in June.
