Rare Cloud Formation

20140410 004You can almost feel the texture in this cloud and I thought it looked like rippled silk. I shared the image on The Cloud Appreciation Society page on Facebook and found out it was a rare cloud formation, Undulatus Asperatus. Who knew ? It was only named in 2009, the first cloud to be named in 50 years !

It was only one part of  an amazing show of clouds that got redder as the sun went down. It looked like handfuls of red stars or fairy lights had been thrown into the sky.
