The Country Diary of a GenX Woman

Whhhhoooooshhhh

blackCockatoosThat was the awesome sound of 60+ black cockatoos flying barely 2m over my head as I was putting the boys back into their stables.  Of course I didn’t have my camera, but it felt amazing just to stand so close to them as they flew up and over the roof of the stables.  Another smaller flock followed behind a bit lower down the paddock.  That is the second time I have seen a big flock flying towards the creek line around 5pm.  I must remember to take the camera when doing the evening feeding rounds!  It is interesting how loud their wings and feathers sound compared to the fairy martins who fly in almost complete silence.
