The Country Diary of a GenX Woman

Grey Fantail

20130426 034 I finally got a picture in focus so I could identify one of the birds that is quite common in the forest.  I originally thought it was a scrubwren until I realised its eyes were the wrong colour and its tail was too long, so I kept looking and realised it was a Grey Fantail.  The white eyebrows were the giveaway and the way it spreads its tail when it swoops, loops and dives.

This week for the first time, I have noticed a couple fluttering round the vege patch and citrus trees and I saw another couple having a stand-off with a Willie Wagtail in the dog yard behind the house.
