Laughing Jim

Laughing JimSome subspecies of the Gymnopilus junonius or Spectacular Rustgill contain the hallucinogenic compound psilocybin which have given it the common name Laughing Gym or Jim.  These two were in the unburnt forest to the north of the property and were quite solid looking and 120mm across.  The caps can grow as as wide as 400 mm and flatten out as they get older.  The caps and stems are both scaly looking.   According to the Atlas of Living Australia, they are more common in the Eastern States.
