Rock Fishing

20130722_112211I finished slashing the weeds in the new oat paddock today and did a final check for any big rocks or floaters.  There was one patch in the middle that had a little cluster which I found by stabbing the crow bar into the ground and listening for the clink of the metal on the ironstone.   It reminded me of people spear fishing.  The soil is rich and crumbly and if you can get the bar under the rock, you just let it fall and that is usually enough force to bring it up to the surface.  There were a couple of large rocks which I couldn’t lift, but  I managed to lever them into the bucket.
