The Country Diary of a GenX Woman

Caught in the Cloudburst

20130807_171019Standing in the lee of a big Marri tree watching the horizontal rain, I wished that I had looked at the rain radar earlier.  I had checked it at 4.45pm and thought I could make the feed round before it arrived, but I didn’t. I got the chooks in and fed, the horses in and fed, the guinea fowl fed and was on my way back to feed the goats, when the skies just opened.  Poor sort-of-farm-dog Shorty, who hates water, got all frantic and ran round in circles before deciding to run the 200m back to the house.  I grabbed the radar image from the Bureau of Meteorology website when I got back in and at 5:10pm it clearly shows the band of rain sitting halfway between Busselton and Margaret River  – I took the photo at 5:10pm.cloudburst070813
