Use What You Have
We wanted to build some seating around the firepit and looked at various options, including rough logs, stone blocks and timber sleepers. In the end we decided to build some Gabion baskets and fill them with some of the rocks we have picked out of the paddocks and stockpiled. For the tops, we have used the natural edged Marri we had slabbed last year after a big tree came down in a storm. I learned how to use a belt sander and look forward to seeing how they come up when they are oiled and finished.
