The Country Diary of a GenX Woman

Amanita Umbrinella

amanita umbrinellaWe have a lot of the Amanita umbrinella appearing in the forest now.  They are quite large and have a smooth soft grey cap with a silky sheen with white gills and flesh.  The other large white Amanita in the forest is the ananiceps which has a lumpy cap and no ring on the stem.  There was no discolouration when I broke a bit off.
